Attorney Suzann Beckett has been a resident of Connecticut for her entire life and grew up on a farm in Glastonbury. Her parents were the proprietors of the esteemed Old Cider Mill, acknowledged as the longest continually operating cider mill in the United States. Dr. Chip Beckett, her well-known brother, is a veterinarian for both large and small animals with offices located in Main Street, Glastonbury, and has also served as a member of the Glastonbury Town Council for nearly two decades. Captain Stewart Beckett, her father, was a Pan Am pilot who flew with President Nixon to China and was, for a time, listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for flying a segment of a record-breaking around-the-world trip.
In 1991, Ms. Beckett and her law school classmate and dear friend, Jan van der Werff, established their law firm following five years with a medium-sized Connecticut firm. Since 1995, she has been the exclusive owner and operator of Estate Planning Law Center, LLC, and its associated enterprise, Connecticut Bankruptcy.
Ms. Beckett is a staunch advocate for continuing education for herself, her employees, and her clients. She was an attorney-mentor for numerous years at the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys, as well as an educator and instructor for attorneys and other professionals at Wealth Counsel and other professional organizations. Her firm periodically holds workshops on subjects of interest for clients and the general public.
Ms. Beckett resides in a restored Victorian house in the West End of Hartford with her five children, three dogs, and two cats.
